PETROAN Enhances Market Operations, Explores Cheaper Distribution

PETROAN President Billy Gills-Harry pushes for affordable petrol prices, urging a rail distribution system to cut costs.To improve efficiency, PETROAN inaugurated its Lagos Executive Council to tackle fuel adulteration, meter tampering, and hoarding. Gills-Harry called on the government to declare a state of emergency on rail and transport networks to reduce fuel transport costs.

He credited PETROAN’s efforts for Nigeria’s refinery revival, including Port Harcourt, Warri, and Dangote refineries.Dangote Refinery cut PMS prices by N60, but PETROAN says the impact will be delayed due to old stock.PETROAN, partnering with Dangote and MRS, aims for uniform pricing but warns retailers can’t sell at new rates immediately without losses.

PETROAN’s National President urged the Lagos Executive Council to seek an audience with the Governor for their introduction, as done in other states.Obele said non-functional refineries led to fake fuel circulation, risking consumer safety.

With genuine diesel and kerosene now available, demand for fake products has dropped, reducing explosions and equipment damage.Refinery revival has curbed crude theft, boosted revenue, stabilized the naira, created jobs, and empowered host communities, helping reduce crime.
