TCN sets new record in national power generation.

TCN announced a new peak generation of 5,543.20MW, surpassing the previous 5,478.73MW recorded on February 13, 2025, as disclosed by General Manager Ndidi Mbah on X.

Mbah stated that the new daily energy peak of 125,159.48MWH is Nigeria’s highest, surpassing the 121,674.88MWH record set on February 7, 2025, by 3,484.60MWH.Mbah confirmed TCN successfully transmitted the new peak generation and daily energy to distribution companies nationwide.

The manager said this achievement reflects President Tinubu’s and Minister Adelabu’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s power supply.On January 8, 2021, TCN achieved a peak transmission of 5,552.80MW, surpassing the 5,520.40MW record from October 30, 2020. Mbah stated this reflects progress in Nigeria’s electricity distribution, with TCN’s transmission potential at 8,100MW and a frequency of 50.08Hz.

In January 2021, TCN’s Acting MD, Sule Abdulaziz, said TCN will build more substations, install transformers, and upgrade old transmission lines to boost power supply. This milestone reflects efforts to expand generation and strengthen transmission nationwide.
