Axxela Scales Up Local Natural Gas Consumption

Axxela Limited, a leading gas and power company in sub-Saharan Africa, has expanded its natural gas pipeline network by connecting new customers across various sectors, including FMCG, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and transportation. This development highlights Axxela’s ongoing commitment to promoting domestic gas utilization and providing reliable, cleaner, and cost-effective energy to over 200 industrial and commercial clients in West Africa.

Axxela Limited, through its subsidiaries Transit Gas and Gaslink, has connected new customers across key industrial hubs in Nigeria to its natural gas pipeline network. Notable connections include Unicure Pharmaceuticals, Gas Tech International, Lagos Marriott Hotel, Jubaili Bros, Twinings Ovaltine, and Ocean Lord Limited. This expansion supports Nigeria’s energy transition by promoting cleaner, cost-effective natural gas solutions. Axxela’s Managing Director, Kehinde Alabi, emphasized the company’s role in improving operational efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and aligning with national sustainability goals. Natural gas adoption by these firms aids Nigeria’s journey toward net-zero emissions by 2060.

Over the last 20 years, Axxela has invested heavily in natural gas infrastructure to enhance energy security, minimize business downtime, and support a low-carbon economy. It recently commissioned a 5km pipeline in Victoria Island, Lagos—the first phase of a planned 72.5km project extending to Lekki.
