
The NNPC/Heirs Energies JV OML 17 Host Communities Development Trust launched a free medical outreach across 15 communities in Port Harcourt, providing consultations, health education, dental and eye care, and surgeries to about 4,500 people. The initiative aims to improve healthcare access and support sustainable development aligned with the Petroleum Industry Act and UN SDGs. Medical teams and local volunteers work together to deliver the services, with support from community leaders and partners.
The NNPC/Heirs Energies JV OML 17 Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) is a statutory body established under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 to promote sustainable development and economic empowerment for communities within the OML 17 oil and gas area.
Formed by the NNPC/Heirs Energies Joint Venture, the Trust offers a new approach to community engagement based on transparency, inclusion, and lasting impact. Representing 73 communities, it is the largest HCDT in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, dedicated to driving inclusive growth and delivering meaningful, long-term benefits to its people, improving lives now and for future generations.
