Seplat Energy is finalizing plans to enter the power sector to strengthen its presence across the energy industry. CEO Roger Brown emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s power challenges. This move follows Seplat’s recent acquisition of assets from Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, which doubled its reserves and expanded its upstream and midstream operations under Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Limited.
CEO Roger Brown highlighted Seplat’s growth, with production rising from 50,000 to over 120,000 barrels per day and a workforce of 1,500, mostly Nigerians. He emphasized Nigeria’s gas potential for improving electricity access, especially through modular gas-to-power systems for rural areas. While interested in renewables, Seplat will currently focus on upstream oil, gas, and midstream processing.
