Russia Claims Responsibility for Strike on Kremenchuk Oil Refinery in Ukraine

Russia reported a missile and drone strike overnight on the Kremenchuk oil refinery in central Ukraine, targeting energy and agriculture facilities. The refinery was previously attacked in 2022. The strike involved precision-guided weapons and drones, according to Russia’s defense ministry.

Social media showed fires over Kremenchuk after a night-long missile and drone attack.No injuries were reported, and most missiles were intercepted by Ukraine’s air defense.The strikes caused fires and damage to homes and vehicles.Russia had previously attacked the refinery multiple times in 2022, shutting it down and damaging key infrastructure.A fire broke out at an auto plant in Russia’s Tatarstan, caused by debris from Ukrainian drones, killing one and injuring 13. Ukraine said the drones targeted UAV facilities and infrastructure, but damage details are unclear.

Separately, Russia returned 1,200 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers as part of a deal to return 6,000. So far, 4,812 bodies have been returned.Ukrainian President Zelenskiy expects the current prisoner exchange to finish by June 20–21, with 1,200 prisoners exchanged on each side recently.
