TCN Begins Rebuilding Three Towers on 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has begun reconstructing three collapsed towers on the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line. According to spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, three contractors have been deployed—each to handle one tower—to expedite repairs and restore power quickly. To minimize the impact on Kaduna Electric and its customers, TCN has activated alternative supply routes, currently delivering 6–7MW to Sokoto and Birnin Kebbi via a 132kV line from the Mando Transmission Substation.

TCN deployed three contractors to speed up repairs and activated alternative supply routes, providing 6–7MW to affected areas. The company expressed regret for the inconvenience, thanked communities for their patience, and reaffirmed its commitment to restoring full power and maintaining reliable infrastructure.

Kaduna Electric also confirmed the incident, citing tower collapse near Yauri as the cause.The TCN team is actively working to resolve the recent tower collapse and restore normal power supply, apologizing for the inconvenience caused. This incident follows a series of disruptions on the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line, including a power surge in February 2024, severe weather-related tripping in May, and a mechanical fault in July, all of which required significant maintenance efforts.
