Texas Alliance and IPAA praise Congress for scrapping the methane tax rule

The Senate passed H.J. Res. 35 to repeal Biden’s 2024 EPA methane tax rule, following the House. Rep. Pfluger and Sen. Hoeven led the effort. The Texas Alliance and IPAA opposed the tax, citing risks to independent producers, higher consumer costs, and increased reliance on foreign energy. Alliance President Karr Ingham praised the repeal, calling the tax unfairly targeted.

The resolution awaits President Trump’s signature.Ingham emphasized the need to repeal the methane tax statute and supports efforts by Rep. Pfluger and Sen. Cruz. IPAA President Jeff Eshelman praised Sen. Hoeven’s leadership and called the tax a burden on U.S. oil and gas.

Both groups urge President Trump to sign H.J. Res. 35 and work to eliminate the tax.Texas co-sponsors in the House include Reps. Jodey Arrington, Dan Crenshaw, and Randy Weber.
