
TotalEnergies has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Nigeria in developing key oil and gas assets to boost government revenue and support community development.Managing Director Matthieu Bouyer gave this assurance on March 12, 2025, during a visit by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, to the company’s offshore fields, Ofon and Egina.
The visit aimed to familiarize the Minister with TotalEnergies’ investment plans, ongoing projects, and challenges, including capital expenditures and community relations.Egina, an ultra-deepwater field in the Gulf of Guinea, is part of TotalEnergies’ deepwater growth strategy in Nigeria, alongside the Akpo field in OML 130.TotalEnergies’ leadership, including Managing Director Matthieu Bouyer, welcomed Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, during his visit to the company’s offshore fields.
Bouyer reaffirmed TotalEnergies’ commitment to partnering with the Federal Government to boost production through new projects tied to existing fields, increasing both output and government revenue.Senator Lokpobiri praised TotalEnergies as a model for international oil companies, emphasizing the government’s commitment to increasing investment in the oil and gas sector for mutual benefit.
The Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by International Oil Companies (IOCs) and emphasized the government’s willingness to address them through dialogue. “Let’s meet, identify the issues, and find a mutually beneficial solution. Our approach is not to create difficulties but to ensure a fair and balanced outcome,” he stated.
